~One Room Challenge~{week 6, complete}

Well, that was a race to the finish.
I was literally finishing up back splash last night.

A huge thank you to Linda for including me in this incredible line up of talented ladies.
I hope I get invited back again :)

Today I am just going to show you a whole ton of photos of my finished kitchen and then tomorrow I will give you all the sources, paint colors, etc.

If you would like to see what the room started out as, click here.

The kitchen is the first room you step into off the front porch.

So welcome, come on in!

It is so much lighter and brighter, it's like a breath of fresh air.
This room is pretty big, about 16x16, and functions not only as our kitchen but also as a little home office~or blogging corner.

New color on the bar stools and new cushions:

New pendant lights, gas cook top, and roman shades:

Brand new counter tops and back splash~can't go wrong with marble:

Roman shades for this window as well, and new vintage looking sconces on either side of the sink:

New runner……

And a soft grey/green on the island to match the pantry doors.

New oven…..

and sweet smelling lilacs.

A $3.00 vintage dough bowl on the coolest new pedestal wood thing :)

Beveled marble subway tiles and a thrifted bowl.

Favorite family photos framed in barn wood, and schumacher wallpaper
 I have been dreaming about for ages.

The "office" area got more cabinets and marble….

It functions so much better now!

This little niche turned into a tiny baking center.
Right next to the pantry it is pretty handy.

I probably overdid it on the pictures.
I tend to do that.
I will be back tomorrow with all the details, so if you have any specific
 questions feel free to ask in the comment section!

~ORC~{week 5}

Holy Moly, that's all I have to say.

I am going to make this short and sweet because I have to go right back to working.
It will be a miracle if I finish this in time!

Let's take it day by day since the last updated post…….

Wednesday we ripped up the old granite tile counters. The came up surprisingly easy.
I also had to empty the contents of all the cupboards which made my dining room look like an episode of hoarders.

Somewhere in there I got the crazy idea that I needed to plant my window boxes.

Thursday I sanded the rough drywall edges smooth where the new back splash will go, as well as in the nook area. I sanded and painted the skylight area that had the bad patch job.
Then I painted all the trim work in the kitchen a bright white.
Oh, we also made a pipe contraption to hold 2 pendant lights above the island!

Friday the marble installers came.
I sat at my island and painted custom sign orders while they installed it.
Love, love, love it!
Why did I not do this sooner?

 That is the good news.

The bad news is  that my newly painted Annie Sloan Old White cabinets looked just that~OLD!
Old, dirty, and dingy next to the new marble.

So, I made the decision to RE PAINT all the cabinets in Ben Moore Dove White and I am so happy with it! Although, I might die if I have to paint anything again.

{pic. below shows the original yellowy color on the drawer fronts and the dove white is on the doors}

I spent the entire day Saturday from 6 am to 9 pm sanding, priming, and painting.

 Sunday I painted the island the same green as the pantry doors.
{still wet in this photo}

Monday I had to wash all the dishes before putting them back in the cupboards because they had gotten so dusty from the construction. I think I must have washed 12 loads. Thank goodness for a dishwasher!

Tuesday I painted our bar stools.
Here is a before and after:

 I primed them with spray primer and then painted them with 3 coats of Dove White.
Luckily it was a sunny day and we also have a television outside, so I watched episode after episode of Investment Properties.

 The wallpaper also got installed in the nook!
I LOVE it!
Any suggestions for shelving?

I still have a ton to do.
I sure wish I could get an extension…..
Ha, yeah right.
Keep your fingers crossed that I finish by next Wednesday!

~one room challenge week 3~

It's week 3, that means we are halfway to the finish and I feel so far behind.
Here is what I have done this past week:

I shipped off this flax colored linen fabric to have roman shades made.
My husband hates any kind of curtains so I will have to break this one to him slowly.

However, he did agree on white carrara counterops and we selected our slab!
Up until now the only hint of marble in our kitchen is the cutting board shown in the above photo.
I cannot wait.
They come Friday to do the template, and next Friday to install!

{sorry, bad phone photo}

This is the backsplash I picked:

I also ordered new sconces and they have arrived.
Haven't broke the news to my husband about these either.

That is it!
Yikes, I really need to start painting cabinets.
I keep putting it off.
Hopefully next week I'll be able to show you photos of the actual kitchen!
