~our master bath~

I thought I'd show you the master bathroom which is right off our master bedroom. I guess that's a given......
Anyway, we added onto it around 8 years ago, adding a walk in shower and a jacuzzi tub. I'm such a tub girl. I'd take a bubble bath over a shower anyway.

Here are some ways we saved money:
The bathroom vanity was a returned item that was marked down. Look for these items at home improvement stores. Sometimes you can find special order items that were made not exactly to the customers specifications, and you can get them for a steal. This particular one was maple and it was cracked in a couple places. We asked the manager for an even bigger markdown and got it. Sometimes, actually all the time, it doesn't hurt to ask. I knew I would be painting it anyway, so it was perfect. I painted and distressed it and added appliques to the doors. The granite counter, sink, and backsplash was a all in one deal at Home Depot as well.

This shelf was a thrift store find that was around $10.00 whole dollars. I painted it the same color as the vanity and distressed it as well.

I love this for necklace storage!

These jars I got at Rejuvenation after winning a gift card on this fantastic blog!

I love lighting these candles at night. It creates a very relaxing mood. The floors and all the other tile are travertine and were bought right off the shelf at Home Depot. I normally have bath mats, I just took them out for the photos. I tiled the shower and my husband did the tub and the floor. We make a great team! I made the gigantic mirror above the sink, it was actually one of my first mirrors I ever made. I made it the same way I make all my picture frames. If you'd like to learn how, you can, for $10.00 my e- course will show you how. Sign up for it here!

Do you want to see what we started with? A teeny tiny little closet of a bathroom!

And then, when we started ripping into things, we found this lovely surprise.

D I S G U S T I N G

If anyone has any suggestions for dressing up those windows, I'd love to hear! I have been stuck on what to do for a really long time! Holly???

Hope you are having a great weekend! I am taking 3 girls to the Taylor Swift concert tonight!

~thrifty thursday~{sort of}

Well, the project I planned to show you today will not be seen.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that I just got hired on as a contributor
for ReStyle Source and I will be showcasing it there soon!

So, today I want to show you how a old pile of fabric scraps became this gorgeous pouffe:

This project was a collaboration between my vision and my friend Jills talents.
Jill is also the gal who made my monogram pillow shams shown on our master bedroom makeover post.
I'm pretty sure this girl can sew anything, just saying.
So I showed her a picture of a similar pouffe and asked her if she could make one out of drop cloth material, vintage grain sack scraps, and other fabric scraps.
Of course, she rocked it. Not only did she rock it, but she made more. Check out these cuties {mine is on the bottom}

Here it is in it's new home, our living room!

Jill has a wonderful etsy shop here.
And as a contributor, my pouffe, as well as her others are in this issue of Celebrating Everyday Life! Get your digital copy right here for only $3.95.
Every page is gorgeous, you will get so many ideas for fall, I know I did!
There's even instructions on how to make your own pouffe if you are handy with a sewing machine!

So there you have it. Kinda a thrifty Thursday~how to turn fabric scraps into extra seating, only this is this girl is the brains behind this one!

I will be back tomorrow to announce the winners of the 2 giveaways. Have you entered both?

~master bedroom details~

Thanks for all your comments on our master bedroom! It was actually really fun pulling it together!

Here's some sources, etc. for you!

Paint colors:

walls: top, Ben Moore Graphite. {color is more black than the photos show}
Bottom, Ralph Lauren Oatmeal

Bed and nightstands: Annie sloan old white detail and Coco all over with lots of dark wax. Do you all want a tutorial? Maybe a video tutorial?

Barn doors: Second Use Building Materials.
These doors were a steal at $25.00 a piece!

Bedding: The monogram pillows I designed and the super talented Jill from Sew A Fine Seam made them for me. She blogged about them here.

The smaller velvet pillows are Pottery Barn as well as the duvet. I don't see them on the site anymore,
but check ebay if you are looking for them.

Bench at foot of bed was a flea market find from my friend Dawn of Great Findz.

Lamps on bedside tables are from HomeGoods. I just added new shades. They seriously are the go to place for lamps in my opinion. They are very inexpensive and they have a wide selection.

Chandelier is from Restoration Hardware baby and child. I found it at the outlet for a fraction of the price.

Barn door tracking is from a local mom and pop hardware store.

The nightstands I purchased at Goodwill. See this post for the before.

Sign over bed, Pink Marmalade Designs. {did you all comment for the chance to win?}

Botanicals from Kelley here. I did a post on them way back when right here. I just painted the frames a distressed black.

Black dresser, Goodwill, I painted.

Curtains are from Ikea and you can find them here.

Curtain rods are from here.

Candlesticks are various thrifted finds I painted with Annie Sloan Coco paint.
I buy all my Annie Sloan paint here.

I love you sign by me.

The rug is from Marshalls but is very similar to this one.

The ottoman was a girls craft night project and I blogged about them here.

Stay tuned, I will be showing you the master bathroom next. It didn't get a makeover, but it did get
my professional photographer!

~our master bedroom~{and a surprise giveaway}

Not sure why this room had been neglected for so long.
I guess because I was stuck. I knew what I wanted, so I thought....

One day I got up the nerve to email Holly Mathis.

I thought if anyone could help me, it would be her. And yep, she rocked it.
She not only helped, but she answered my many text messages and late night emails very promptly,
and kindly I might add.

Here is what I started with. Not horrible, but not great.
{click on any photos to enlarge}

The color was Fossil Beute by Ralph Lauren and it was a suede look. The nightstands were too small and while the chandelier was ok, it didn't really fit the space.

Would you like to see the after?

I thought today I would just show photos and tomorrow I will follow up with details.

A huge thank you to Christine, the owner at Trimood Photography for taking these photos!

And, how would one of you like that sign I have above my bed? The owner and artist at Pink Marmalade Designs has offered one of them to one of you lucky My Sweet Savannah Readers! All of their signs are handmade with love right here in the USA!

Leave me a comment on this post and you'll be entered! I will announce the winner back here on Friday along with the custom pet portrait winner from yesterday's giveaway!
I hope you enjoyed the new and improved master bedroom!
