~doing a little living room rearranging~

Every now and then, ok, about once a week, I get in the mood to change things up.
Sometimes it's little things like bringing in fresh flowers and cleaning out the cupboards.
Other times it's rearranging furniture or tackling a major project.
This week I switched things up in the living room a little bit.

As many of you know, I sanded the green paint off our coffee table.
I know a lot of you liked the green, and I did too, just not in here.
And if I ever do want it green again, I'll just paint it!
I'm loving the look of the raw wood.

The photo below shows the main changes, even though they are small. I removed the glass front cabinet from the left of the fireplace and stacked it on top of the other matching one, on the right.
{you can't see the bottom one in this pic}
Then I moved the leather chair to the corner to create a cozy little spot.
Sorry for all the sun glares.
It rained all day and when I went to take photos, the sun came out.
Not complaining though!

I didn't have any fresh flowers so I cut a couple branches off some trees in the yard.

I also brought back my stump table and put all my favorite back issues of Cottage Living Magazine on it. I could read them over and over and over.

Of course when I sacked these two cabinets, the artwork was too big, so I changed that up too.

~more new pillows~

I have a pillow addiction.
I can't help it.
My 2 favorite sources for pillows are Spark Modern on Etsy
{great designer fabrics}
and for pillows made with vintage fabrics I go to
my friend Dawn who owns Haystack Home in Kirkland Washington.
That is where I just picked up these batik beauties.

~our newly painted living room~

It's not a huge change, the the Behr Swiss Coffee paint has really brightened up this room.
You can see before photos under our home tab at the top of this page.
It was previously painted Oatmeal by Ralph Lauren.

I attempted to paint a couple large canvas' to flank the fireplace.
I am no artist and hope to replace these with large family photos on canvas later.

I painted the joining dining room the same color and will show that next!

~our dining room & break~

Kids are on vacation this week, so I am taking a few days off from blogging to spend time with them.
If you'd like to follow along on instagram, you can do so here.

In the meantime, I am loving the blue pillows I moved from Savannah's room to the living room so much, that I went to TJ Maxx and scored a Broyhill lamp I love for the adjoining dining room.
Pillows from Spark Modern.

~my favorite source for online pillow shopping~

2 words.

I honestly won't buy pillows anywhere else online.
Why?
Well, because they have the best selection with a fast turnaround.
All their fabrics are whats currently trending as well as other timeless fabrics.
Their customer service is impeccable, and they will work with you quickly on custom orders.
They are offering free shipping to my sweet savannah readers!

{100% my opinion, I was not paid to say this}

Here are some pillows in our home that I have purchased through Spark Modern.
This betwixt lumbar pillow can be found here.
It looks great in the fall and winter months because it is dark and bold.
But as you can see in the picture below, it also works in the summer with bright flowers and lighter pillows mixed in.

I'm literally obsessed with these new Euro pillows I just got for Savannah's room.
I want to steal them off her bed.
These are 26"x26" and they have a hidden zipper.
Did I mention I love them?

You can find them here.

These betwixt pillows have found many different homes in my house.
They go everywhere, with everything.

Yesterday I showed you where they currently are, in our hallway nook.
You can find all the betwixt here.
I don't currently see this color way.

Bad quality photos below, but these large pillows are another favorite.
Currently they are on our master bed.
I love how versatile all these pillows are!
This Volpi Navy is currently out of stock, but check back in soon.

This little blue pillow below can be found here.
It's a great soft pillow to throw in the mix.

Want to see more of my favorites from their shop?
I am loving these and hope to add them to my "collection" soon.

And, I'd love to get this pillow to match our wallpaper!

Now, if they only made drapes……..

Happy shopping!

~eeny, meeny, miny, moe~

I recently shared with you our hallway update.
If you didn't see it, you can go here to view and see sources.

What I didn't share is how long it took me to come up with
the perfect pillow combination for that little nook!

Here is the end result:

I tried orange with my Ballard Designs monogram lumbar pillow….

Just lots of orange for fall……
{I love orange and charcoal grey}

I tried my betwixt pillows with a grain sack pillow……

I even tried moving my pillows off the couch over to this area….

In the end, the betwixt won.
The grain sack pillow {2 photos above} was a little too small so I added this king sized grain sack in a matching mustard yellow color and a small charcoal grey pillow from Restoration Hardware.

I also swapped out the wood bins for more grey baskets.
They were perfect, but…….

 They were too small!
Boo hoo!!!

You can see how I rigged them below for the picture.
Now I am on a search to find these same Ikea baskets but in a perfect size for the cubbies here.
The tupperware containers cannot stay!

~a teen room makeover for Savannah~

In 2010 we gave our daughter a makeover on her room while she was away at camp.
You can see that post here.
But over the last 4 years, her tastes have changed and it was time for a update.

My driving force for the makeover, was that Cottages and Bungalows Magazine was coming out for a photo shoot. So over the course of 2 weeks I transformed her room into something that we both love.
{warning~lots of photos coming,
sources will be listed at the bottom of this post}

Here is the entrance to her room.
The main change here is the paint color on the walls.

I stripped all the paint off her antique closet door and left it as is.

I also painted her bed black and added the top pieces using 1x2's
I am also in love with her new bedding and pillows!

I added new sconces and a new chandelier as well.
The DIY for the zebra rug can be found here.
