~world market does it again~

Last night I dropped Savannah off at soccer practice.
An hour and a half of freedom from kids and puppy.
So, what did I do? I got a latte and headed to World Market.
Here is what I walked out with, although I think I am going back tomorrow!

Shhhh! Don't tell.

I got a set of 6 of these delicious plates in the soft green color {upper right}

And 2 of these candles. I am seriously obsessed with the fig scent and the color is gorgeous, AND I can reuse the containers!

Here is what I will probably be going back for tomorrow:

These salad plates {can't have too many right?}

This wood salad bowl

This elephant tea towel was so cute!

And I am thinking these glasses would go nicely on a spring table setting along with my new plates!

Seriously, I feel like every time I go in there, there is so many new things! And it certainly helps that they email me coupons all the time!
{as a part of their royalty reward program}

Have you found anything good there lately?

~brown sugar cookies~

or, as I like to call them, the cookies that won't last 2 seconds on your counter.
Double the batch!

I hope I didn't just ruin any new years resolutions!

*tip-do not over bake, they are best when the center is still gooey.

~vol 25~ {large science poster giveaway}

Vol 25 is one of my favorite etsy shops!
As you can see pictured below, I have one of their large antler charts in our dining room.

It is this one below:

I just ordered this one, love the colors!

Check out some of their other large posters in their shop:

I believe this poppy print is the one my friend Emily has.

Today you can enter to win your choice of any large poster! These are so well made, each one is perfection in my opinion!
Please like them on Facebook, then come back here and leave me a comment letting me know you did so! Where will you hang your new poster?

~toning down our log mantle~

On a whim yesterday I decided to "tone down" the log mantle in our living room.
It was looking a bit orange to me.

Here's the before:

I knew it had to be super subtle because my husband would freak otherwise, so I used this stain:

It's super subtle and I honestly don't think he will even notice.

I think it has the appearance now closer to driftwood.
Here's a side by side for comparison.
Sometimes it's the little things!
{and it took less than 5 minutes!}

Before on the left, after on the right.

xoxo

UPDATE TO ALL YOUR QUESTIONS! NO I DID NO PREP! OUR MANTLE HAD A CLEAR COAT PUT ON IT WHEN WE HAD IT BUILT ABOUT 12 YEARS AGO, BUT ALL I DID WAS BRUSH IT ON AND WIPE IT OFF!

~thrifty thursday~ {industrial cake plate}

We've all been passing around the crud here, so posting may be
a little spotty over the next week or so, sorry about that.
I hope all of you are staying healthy, this is not fun!

So for todays thrifty Thursday project I have something super simple.
Directions are not even needed.

Last weekend we were traveling for my daughters soccer, and came across a recycle yard.
It was one that looked like it had really good junk, so I made my husband pull over.

A few minutes later I emerged from the wreckage with a plow blade and a conveyer roller.
He looked at me like I was crazy.
But look how cute they are when paired together?

who knew tractor parts could be so chic!
