~pumpkin, sage, & bacon soup~

This soup recipe is to die for.
I adapted the recipe from here to my liking.

Heat all the ingredients minus the bacon and cheese over low for 15 minutes, stirring often.
To serve, ladle into a bowl and garnish with bacon crumbles and parmesan cheese.

~Halloween table setting~ {& DIY place card holders}

This is the cutest set up in my opinion and it can be done easily and extremely inexpensively.
Here is what you will need.
Everything pretty much is from Ikea and the Dollar Tree.

These great napkins from Ikea.
$1.99 for a 30 pack.
Ljuda striped placemats.
$1.49 each from Ikea.

White dinner and salad plates.
$1 each from the Dollar Tree.

You will also need:
{not pictured}

Plastic fangs from the dollar store, 12 for $1.00.
Orange and black scrapbook paper.
Black goblets, mine were from a thrift store.
Plastic bugs from the Dollar Tree.
Black spray paint, or your color of choice.

Put together each place setting looks like this:

For the place card holders, spray paint the fangs your choice of color.
While they are drying, print out the names of your guests on cream card stock with black lettering.
Cut them out and glue them to a piece of coordinating orange paper cut a little bigger.
When the fangs are dry, place them on top of the napkin and add the name card.

You can or cannot add the plastic flies and beetles.

That is it!
I believe each place setting was under $6.00, goblets included.

Happy Monday friends.

~another use for wrapping paper~{thrifty thursday}

Here's what you will need for this super easy project:

A quote, mine found here, printed on your choice of colored cardstock.
A picture frame, mine I made out of reclaimed wood.
Wrapping paper, anything that coordinates with your paper and frame.
I  purchased mine at TJ Maxx for $2.99 a roll.

Put it all together, and voila!
Thanks Adriel for the cute download.

~free is good~{our new outdoor table}

My friend recently moved and was getting rid of a wood table.
Seeing as how our outdoor table had seem better days, I hauled it home.

It had a big wood top on it that I wasn't crazy about,
{but am saving for another project!}
  so I took that off and simply added three 8' long pieces of scaffolding wood.

I pushed our old chairs up to it and added different stools to each end
{both of which were free as well, don't you love free?}

I added a row of pumpkins to the top and some twigs for fall.
Tonight it's raining, but I am hoping tomorrow we can eat dinner outside.

~the painted fox challenge~

Have you heard of the Painted Fox?
It is a great place to shop for farmhouse swag.
And welcome, if you are following along on this tour and coming from my friend
 Laura's blog, Finding Home.

I was chosen along with 8 other bloggers to be sent a "mystery" product from their shop and then use it in a creative way in my own home.

I was thrilled when I opened up the box and saw this metal 3-tier tray!

Green is my favorite color, and it has these great
chippy rusty looking spots that are just fabulous.

I wouldn't say this is the most creative idea I have ever come up with, but with the season and all, it was just screaming at me to fill with pumpkins and apples and pears off the trees.

I am even more excited to decorate this at Christmastime,
but truly it could be used and left out year round.

To see what Kelly of Live Laugh Rowe has done with her mystery product,
 head on over here!

~green gates~{at flowing lake}

I was lucky enough to be able to photograph an amazing venue this past weekend and I cannot wait to share it with you.
I could've spent the entire day there.
Green Gates is located on flowing lake in Snohomish Washington.
You can find more details on their website.

The place is rustic, magical, beautiful, and the owners were the nicest people.
This wedding was catered by Alexa's Cafe and Catering in Bothell Washington.

Ok, onto the photos.

Pretty fabulous right?
I hope if you or someone you know is planning a wedding, you can take away a few ideas from this.

Happy Monday friends.

~thrifty thursday~

This is one of the most simple and inexpensive projects.

While at the grocery store the other day I noticed their Halloween card section.
Some of the cards were actually quite cool, so I bought a few with this in project in mind.
There is so many different variations you could do for this, but here is how I made mine.

I bought the skeleton card and cut the front off of it.
{just to make it not so bulky}
Then I taped it onto the center of a old piece music paper, which I then taped onto a piece of larger black card stock.

Put the whole thing in a frame and you are done!
I actually went to the craft store and bought a bunch of fun Halloween scrapbooking papers, but in the end liked the simplicity of the aged music sheet.

And here is a tip:
The Dollar Tree has greeting cards, 2 for a dollar.
Most scrapbooking paper is around $1, and if you have a frame on hand, this project can be done for anywhere between $2 and $5.

~our fall home tour~{with BHG}

Thank you so much for stopping by to tour our home for fall.
If you are coming over from Jennifer Rizzos blog, welcome!
If you would like to start the tour from the beginning, you can go here.
Thank you Laura for including me and putting this amazing tour lineup together.

Shall we get this tour started?
This year for me, my decor is all about soft muted colors.
As Halloween comes closer I will throw in some orange, but for now it's all very subtle and calming.

So let's start in the dining room.

I decorated with mostly white pumpkins, none of which are real.
The garland down the center of the table is from Pottery Barn years ago, made for Christmas.

The DIY for this free printable art can be found here.

Instead of spending money on fancy flowers, I simply went out to the yard and cut branches off some maple trees.

DIY bar cart can be found here.

Moving onto the living room.

I thought about changing out my pillows, but I am so loving the color and pattern on these that I just couldn't do it.

I added a few velvet pumpkins and a big old bowl of popcorn, for all those fall football days.

Succulents are really the only indoor plant I can keep alive.

Therefore, the faux topiaries.

And the last room I will show you is our kitchen.
I do a ton of baking in the fall, a ton.
Our little baking nook is getting a lot of use.

Fresh eucalyptus smells so good and you can get it at any grocery store usually.

We have had a fabulous fall weather wise.
The lake water is still warm and the evening weather is perfect for eating outdoors.

I love the colors on this pumpkin from TJ Maxx
 and the greyish color of this basket from Ikea.

Thank you again for stopping by and be sure to check out the next stop on the tour at
