~back from vacation & fathers day with Minted~

What a relaxing week off!

Our time in Maui went way to fast, but it is always nice to be back home.

As I was going through photos yesterday I realized that Fathers Day is creeping up, and since I had all these great photos, I made something special for the kids to give their dad.

I chose the Family & Friends from Minted in a 16x20 with a barn wood frame 

and I just love how it looks!

This will be something special for him that will remind him of our time on the island.

~classic wood prints~

I am always fascinated when I find a new cool product. 

This one is so good, I wanted to share it with you.

I've shared it on my instagram, but here is some more info. and bigger pictures. 

Classic Wood Prints is a company that will take any photo and print it on wood.

I have had 3 done and am hooked. I am keeping one of them and gifting the rest, but will be ordering more. I find the ones with the lighter background

{as in the one on the left}

show the wood grain better, which in my opinion makes the whole thing look neater.

Go check them out and show them some love.

I just think this might be the coolest thing since sliced bread.

In other news, I am off to Vegas to celebrate my 40th birthday!

~DIY fathers day gift ideas~

1~ Car wash kit which includes coupons for 3 free washes. Fill a galvanized bucket from the hardware store with a squeegee, car wash soap, wax, a roll of paper towels or a rag, and sea sponges. Attach 3 of  these coupons, {copy to a word doc. and print on card-stock} then have your kids write on it that they will wash his car for free. Great grandparent gift too!

2~ Make a custom gift topper with your dad's photo. Follow this link for helpful tips.

3~ For the nature loving dad, make a custom pencil/pen holder out of a chunk of firewood. I simply cut a piece of firewood to size on my chop saw {make sure your wood is dry} and drilled holes in the top. You can seal with a clear varathane if you'd like.

4~Make a photo book with washi tape and paint chips like I did for Mother's dayhere.

5~ For the game lover head to your local Dollar Store to pick up plain white mugs. Simply attach letter and number stickers in black to resemble scrabble pieces. 

6~ For the book lover, make journals out of vintage books. Tutorial here.

7~ And finally, another firewood project. This one I simply cut a piece of dry firewood on my chop saw to size, then cut a "slit" again with the chop saw in the center top. I slipped in a instagram photo of me and the Mr. and there you have it!

I hope this inspires you to think outside the box this Father's day!

Mother's Day is right around the corner.

I like to make gifts, or if I don't have time, at least get creative with cute packaging.
